2016 NOOD kicks off in St. Pete:
St. Petersburg, FL (January 19, 2016) – The largest national sailboat racing circuit in the US, the Helly Hansen National Offshore One Design (NOOD) Regatta series, will launch its 28th season in St. Petersburg, on February 12-14. The St. Pete NOOD will be the first stop on the five-city circuit, with about 1,000 sailors competing on Tampa Bay for the event’s top prize, a trip to the British Virgin Islands to compete in the Championship Regatta. During the three-day event, sailors participate in “one-design” racing, where similar types of boats race against each other in their own classes. Full Report.

Newport to Bermuda: Apps for entry top 100:
Registration for the invitational 2016 Newport Bermuda Race is open. Initial applications have been submitted at a fast pace starting January 12. The fleet size for the race will be limited to 200 boats. Over 100 boats filed applications for entry (AFE) in the first week after the entry portal opened. Few tests of blue-water seamanship are as iconic as the 635-mile Newport Bermuda Race. The 2016 race (starting June 17) is the 50th Bermuda ocean race and marks the 90th anniversary of the partnership between the organizers, the Cruising Club of America and Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.
