Americans Take Over Lead at 505 Worlds:
Weymouth, UK (August 4, 2016) – Mike Martin and Adam Lowry have taken over the lead at the 505 World Championship, posting a 1-2 today to hold a 22 point margin over Nathan Batchelor and Sam Pascoe (GBR). The Americans entered the day in third position, but with a second discard now after eight races, they dropped 30-43 and are keeping all top four scores with only one race remaining tomorrow. Joey Pasquali has been riding the kiteboarding scene for some 15 years but it was just three years ago that he and his kite buddies got interested in foilboarding.
The America’s Cup had moved into town with its super quick foiling catamarans, and as Pasquali recalls, “We were watching those boats and foiling was the big thing. We started tracking down foils for kiting which were built in France, we got some here and started riding them. They were a lot more fun than what we had been doing with kiting, and easier on your body.”
