Big boats finish Marblehead-Halifax Race:
(July 9, 2019; Day 3) – The lead boats in the Marblehead-to-Halifax Ocean Race have have completed the 363 nm course, with the Volvo 70 Warrior owned by Steve & Stephen Murray Sr. & Jr. taking line honors (1:10:23:12) but losing on corrected time to the US Naval Academy team on the R/P 66 Zaraffa which finished six hours later (1:16:24:00). Next to finish will be Navy’s Ker 50 Wahoo which is reaching along at 9 knots, with just 14.7 nm to the finish as of 20:00 ADT. Details.

Qualifying continues at Optimist Worlds:
English Harbour, Antigua (July 9, 2019) – Qualifying continues on day two of the 2019 Optimist World Championship, with the 255 sailors facing the local trade winds with strong gusts and punishing winds to complete two more races. Richard Schultheis from Malta continues his domination by winning both races to remain in the lead while Italy’s Marco Gradoni moved up to second today after winning both his heats. The top position girl finds Maria Perello (ESP) and Samara Walshe (USA) in 16th and 17th, respectively. Details.
