Canfield leads wildcard entry at Extreme Sailing San Diego:
The Extreme Sailing Series closes out its 2018 season in North America with the penultimate act on October 18-21 revealing US-flagged wildcard entry, Element Spark Compass, will join the six other international teams in San Diego, CA.
Fronted by US match racing champion Taylor Canfield, who sailed with the Extreme Sailing Series on China One in 2016, the local boat will be crewed by a fully US team, including two Californians.
Canfield will be joined on board by Floridian sailor John Wallace, a rising star in the M32 class, and Laser sailing Californian, Mateo Vargas. Fellow Californian Matt Noble backs them up, with the crew completed by Rhode Island sailor, Sam Hallowell.<...

Sailing Hall of Fame chooses Newport:
Barring last-minute discovery of deal-breaking structural or environmental damage, the National Sailing Hall of Fame is relocating from Annapolis, MD to Newport, RI. The hall’s board of directors voted 17-9 this afternoon in favor of proceeding with its deal to purchase space in the Armory Building on Thames Street, with the plan to welcome visitors at its new location by May 2020.
