Catching up with Erika Reineke:

Olympic sailing hopeful Erika Reineke’s favorite part about racing, other than crossing the finish line first, is downwind sailing.
At the moment where she rounds the mark to head downwind she thinks of a song. If it’s a sunny day, she usually picks something in the country genre. If it’s choppy or windy or the weather’s not good she goes with something harder, sometimes even punk rock.
“I just pick a song to play in my head and then I just don’t think about anything other than trying to go fast,” she said. “It’s really relaxing.”

Kuznetsov Takes Bullets at Melges 32 Worlds:
Cala Galera, Italy (Aug. 23, 2017) – The first day of the 2017 Melges 32 World Championship has concluded with two races, leaving the fleet to bask in Russian colors. Pavel Kuznetsov’s TAVATUY with Evgeny Neugodnikov as tactician won both races. It was also a very positive day for Giangicomo Serena di Lapigio representing Monaco. He submitted a 2-3 scoreline to now sit in second overall. The Corinthian division, as expected is incredibly close with only one point separating leader Martin Reintjes on CAIPIRINHA, followed by Francesco Graziani on VITAMINA in second. Full Report…
