Clipper Race: Baptism by Fire:
(September 4, 2019, Day 3) – Realities of ocean racing are becoming apparent to the 2019-20 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race crew as the fleet battles upwind from London to Portimão. The tough, wet conditions are a steep learning curve for the crew, though the Skippers are full of admiration for how these non-professional sailors are handling their baptism by fire. After the second night of racing, Go To Bermuda and Unicef are neck and neck. Qingdao, who set the pace for much of the first 24 hours, is on the hunt to regain the top spot. Full report.

Deep field for Rolex Middle Sea Race:
As this year’s entry list grows, Malta is more than prepared for the annual ‘invasion’ that accompanies the Rolex Middle Sea Race. 2019 marks the 40th edition of the classic, the Royal Malta Yacht Club, is excited by the depth and breadth of the 102 boat fleet. It is typical for the 606nm offshore race to receive a rush of entries in the final weeks before closing registration, this year on September 27. With the start on October 19, there are 50 days left to be ready. Looking at the current list, some 24 nations will be represented. Full report.
