(September 24, 2019; Race 2, Day 9) – As a tropical storm crosses in front of the fleet, the consistent Trade Winds that have been powering the Clipper 2019-20 Round the World Yacht Race fleet for the past few days are being replaced with squalls, wind direction shifts, and increasing wind speeds as the 11 teams sail past the Cape Verde Islands and into the Doldrums Corridor. Delayed at 52 SUPER SERIES finale:
Porto Cervo, Italy (September 24, 2019) – The first scheduled races of the Audi 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week Porto Cervo had to be postponed today due to the strong Mistral wind that peaked at nearly 40 knots on the proposed race area, and averaged 30 knots for a sustained period. The ten teams entered for this decisive final regatta of the 52 SUPER SERIES season were stood down at just after 13:30 CEST. Full report.
