Clipper Race: Wind hole ahead:
(July 7, 2018; Day 11) – After an intense eleven days of racing across the North Atlantic Ocean, the mood across the Clipper 2017-18 Round the World Yacht Race fleet is that the sprint is very much on for both the Elliot Brown Ocean Sprint, and the finish line in Derry-Londonderry.
Whilst teams have been pushing through the Elliot Brown Ocean Sprint over the last 24 hours, the results will only be confirmed once Liverpool 2018 finishes its sprint. Although yet to start the Elliot Brown Ocean Sprint, the team will be looking to take advantage of the bonus point opportunity following its diversion to St John’s, Newfoundland.
Top four advance at Match Cup Sweden:
Marstrand, Sweden (July 6, 2018) – With a building breeze and the rocks lined with race goers, the schedule was set for the Quarter Final Stage at GKSS Match Cup Sweden 2018, the first event of the World Match Racing Tour.
All the expectation and hard-talk appeared to be in vein as Ian Williams took a decisive victory in the first two matches against Taylor Canfield, moving the pair to match point and a possible clean sweep by the British six-time World Champion. After a short lunch pause to re-group, the US One team clearly had a strong re-think as they came out with a refreshed playbook, nailing the start just bow ahead of WIlliams in the third.
