(December 23, 2016; Day 8) – Francis Joyon (FRA) and his five crew on the 31.5m VPLP-designed trimaran IDEC SPORT are eager to erase the memories of the Doldrums and gain back some lost miles. Their latest 24 hour run of 575 nm has cost them 20 nm, and the team is now 117 nm behind the current record pace set in January 2012 by Loïck Peyron and his crew on the 40 VPLP-designed trimaran Banque Populaire V of 45 days, 13 hours, 42 minutes and 53 seconds.

(December 23, 2016; Day 46, 21:23 UTC) – Thomas Coville (FRA) and his 31m maxi trimaran Sodebo Ultim’ has finally made the turn east around the Azores High and is aiming directly for the finish in his bid to break the solo round the world record. With 1134 nm remaining to the finish, his latest 24 hour run of 553.2 nm has his margin increasing to 2611.45 nm (+39 nm) ahead of the current record pace of 57d 13h 34m 6s set by Francis Joyon (FRA) on the 29.8m trimaran IDEC in January 2008.
