Jo (JoAnn) Mogle, 85 years of Windmill Village in Punta Gorda, FL, passed away on May 4, 2017. She was born in Buffalo, NY on December 18, 1931 to the late Ralph W. and Pauline B. Stoddard. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years Dale T. Mogle and her older brother, Ralph Stoddard, Jr. of Thousand Oaks, CA.
Jo and her husband both served in the US Air Force, and spent most of their married life in Honolulu, Hawaii. Jo became a sailing instructor in 1961, co-founding Hawaii’s premier women’s sailing and racing team, The Wet Hens. She was appointed as an American Red Cross Sailing…

(May 15, 2017) – After their start on May 12 at 21:40:15 (UTC), Lloyd Thornburg and his crew aboard the MOD70 Phaedo^3 have been torching the Pacific Ocean in a bid to break the speed record from Los Angeles to Honolulu, Hawaii. With approximately 450 nm to go at 21:15 (UTC), they must beat the current record of 03:18:00:09 (24.61 kt avg) set by 105-foot VPLP-designed trimaran Lending Club 2 back in July 2015.
