Finn World Masters: Skunked on Penultimate Day:
Torbole, Italy (May 19, 2016) – Inclement weather was the order of the day at the Finn World Masters as the fleet awoke to rain and no wind. While some wind did fill in for a while from the north, the rain and cloud effectively excluded the chance of a southerly developing. With the final Medal Race planned tomorrow, all ten sailors have a theoretical chance of walking away with the title. Full report.

New Speed Record Ratified:
The World Sailing Speed Record Council has ratified a new Bermuda to Plymouth outright record set by the MOD70 Phaedo 3, sailed by co-skippers Lloyd Thornburg (USA)/ Brian Thompson (GBR) and four crew. The team completed the 2870 nm passage on April 29-May 5 in a time of 05:11:57:17 at an average speed of 21.75 knots. The previous record of 14:06:12:50 was set by Ross Hobson (GBR) on the 43-foot trimaran Mollymawk in August 2004.
