Global doublehanded race in Class40s:
The latest attempt to organize a round the world race for 40-footers hopes to get underway in the summer of 2021 as the first edition of the GLOBE 40 – The Grande Route. Using the Class40 boat, the doublehanded race is designed to be accessible both competitively and financially. Geared for both informed amateurs and professional skippers, the race seeks to combine competitive performance, adventure, and travel with a course that takes skippers off the beaten track and offers up some unique stopovers. Closure for Annapolis-to-Newport Race:
Newport, RI (June 11, 2019) – Nearly all of the 52 entrants have finished the 475-nautical mile Annapolis-to-Newport Race, and aside from the 11 retirees that were unable to complete the course off Castle Hill Light, the corrected time results reflect close racing in most classes. The overall winners in the dominant classes were Chris Schoen’s XP44 Phantom (ORC), Rick Hanson’s J/120 No Surrender (PHRF Racing), and John Gowell’s Taylor 41 Temptress (ORR). Details.
