Tony Horton is the most well known trainer on the beach body series but how much do you really know about him? Did you know he wanted to be an actor? The p90x creator first got involved in fitness after moving to California to become an actor. Not to far later he is one of the foremost fitness trainers transforming bodies in such a short period of time.
In the p90x DVD fitness series one of his creations you can see he is a very charismatic guy and in one of his infomercials I saw him almost break down in tears over a success story of an older fellow. He didn’t always have his fit body, however, it took him, through a strong desire to create a fit body. Through a dedication to himself and his dreams he was able to do so.
What separates Tony Horton From other trainers, in my personal opinion is his broad range of expertise in various form of exercise.
Recently I saw him in a series of videos that detail the creation of the p90x. What he presented was his broad understanding of weight lifting. He explained the importance of proper form, rest and solid nutrition. What I learned from Tony Horton is the importance of rest. I didn’t fully understand the importance of rest until his explanation.
Tony in his program guide for the p90 says that your abdominal muscles need rest. Now I didn’t know that, I always believed in the theory that you abdominal muscles could be worked everyday.
But as Tony explains you don’t build muscle while working out you build muscle while in rest. That is why your abs need rest just as your other muscles do.
Now he is impacting thousands and thousands of lives with fitness programs. He has so many programs to choose from but in my personal opinion I like the p90x the most. He searched out the best of the best when trying to design one of the best fitness programs around. Throughout his videos he remains upbeat something that is very refreshing for this author.
Why is Tony one of the best trainers around?
In simple terms he loves what he does and has a passion for what he does. He is very educated in all aspects of fitness and doesn’t mind asking for help. Also Tony is the best because he is isn’t afraid to ask for questions. He consults with various trainers in researching more information. He knows a broad range of information about weightlifting and yoga but only knows a little about martial arts.
I wanted to detail some valuable information that Tony Horton relays to others. He talks about the importance of muscle confusion that is the science behind the creation of many of Tony Horton’s fitness programs. Muscle confusion is constantly varying your workouts to avoid plateau. Confuse the muscle and the more strength you will gain. Its that simple.
I always knew about muscle confusion but I didn’t know you could design programs based off of it. Tony Horton has taken it to new extremes.
What I like about Tony is his broad range of understanding of certain exercises do not conflict with others. He knows how to put them together without overlapping them.
Yoga overtime allows your body to gently move into a position and Tony understands that he doesn’t let his understanding of weight lifting (force) conflict with his understanding of yoga.
