(October 10, 2018) – Hurricane Michael made landfall as a catastrophic, unprecedented Category 4 storm on the Florida Panhandle today, as buildings along the coast were ripped apart and storm-surge flooding erased beaches in a matter of hours. Hours before landfall, reports of damage and flooding were relayed from the coast. Hurricane Michael hit the coast as a storm with a life-threatening storm surge and over 100 mph winds possible not just near the coast, but also inland. Stormy Weather at Melges 20 Worlds:
Cagliari, Italy (October 10, 2018) – The thirty-seven entrants participating in the 2018 Melges 20 World Championship would not get to sail the regatta as scheduled today. The start of the 2018 Melges 20 World Championship has been postponed due to a meteorological alert issued to the Race Committee today, which in turn, prompted them to postpone the kickoff for the racing portion of the event.
