Leadership in Women’s Sailing Award:
Linda Lindquist-Bishop was awarded the BoatUS/National Women’s Sailing Association 2017 Leadership in Women’s Sailing Award at the NWSA Women’s Sailing Conference held June 3 in Marblehead, Massachusetts. The award, which recognizes an individual with a record of achievement in inspiring, educating and enriching the lives of women through sailing, was presented by NWSA President Linda Newland. BoatUS is a partner of NWSA, a program of the Women’s Sailing Foundation, which is an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of women and girls through education and access to the sport of sailing. Damage Day at the America’s Cup:
Hamilton, Bermuda (June 6, 2017) – It was redline conditions for the America’s Cup Challenger Semi-Final matches as near max winds and storm cells led to damage on all boats and one quite notable pitchpole for Peter Burling’s Emirates Team New Zealand.
The Kiwi incident at the start of their second race left three of the teams’ sailors clinging on inside the cockpits on the starboard hull while the other three were ejected into the water. All six sailors were quickly accounted for as safe and unharmed and the team’s boat was righted and taken back to their base in the America’s Cup Village.
