London Maritime Volunteer Service Open Evening
A Sailing Regatta event on 2016-01-11 19:30:00
Would you like to learn or develop your maritime knowledge and skills? Then join us for an open evening with the City of London's Maritime Volunteer Service. Throughout the evening you'll be able to learn more about the Unit and meet some of our existing members. You’ll join the group for weekly news updates and assignments, and then be shown around our facilities and vessels. You’ll also be very welcome to join us for a social afterwards. The City of London Maritime Volunteer Service (MVS) was originally founded in 1994 and offers training in boat handling, navigation, and engineering in a convenient central London location with affordable membership fees. The City of London MVS have previously provided skilled support at local events, including the Queen's Diamond Jubilee River Pageant, the London 2012 Olympics and the Henley Royal Regatta. At weekends the Unit regularly carries out safety boat duties at a local sailing club, and practical training sessions may be organised aboard our two RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) and Londinium 1; a 44 ft twin diesel engine service launch. For further information please visit our website at www.mvslondon.org.uk, or send an email to Melissa at firstname.lastname@example.org. FAQs Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? This event is open to new applicants aged 18 and over, and photo ID will be required for the security desk. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? The event is within easy walking distance of Tower Gateway DLR, Tower Hill Underground Station (for the Circle and District Lines) and Wapping Overground Station. Street parking is also available close to the venue. Are there any other Units around London that are closer to where I live? We would initially encourage you to attend an open evening with the City of London's Maritime Volunteer Service. However, we are currently looking to establish a Unit based in South West London (Putney), and there is also a Lower Thames Unit based in Gravesend.
