Olympian, World Champion and America’s Cup living legend, John Bertrand AO, is just one of the stars lining up for the 2018 Etchells World Championship to be held October 22-27 in Brisbane, Australia.
With 95-boats to complete, this year the Class celebrates its 50th year, having been designed by Skip Etchells back in the 60s. Whilst that may be considered old hat by some, with its aluminum masts and symmetrical spinnakers, the boat remains loved by some of the best sailors the world has ever seen.

First medals awarded at Youth Olympics:
Buenos Aires, Argentina (October 12, 2018) – Alexandros Kalpogiannakis (GRE) and Giorgia Speciale (ITA) became the first sailors to take the title of 2018 Youth Olympic Champions at the Youth Olympic Sailing Competition held out of Club Nautico San Isidro.
The first Medal Races in Sailing were held in the Girl’s and Boy’s Windsurfing class, with both fleets completing 11 races in the series over the course of the competition.
A seventh-place finish in the Medal Race – his lowest fleet race score of the week – was enough for Kalpogiannakis to wrap up gold.
