Keelboat owners, there’s an interesting article in December’s Yachting Monthly that you may find a little disconcerting.
If your boat is damaged by another, there’s a very good chance that her insurers will just say, “tough luck!”.
The article gives several instances of boats being damaged by others, e.g. by drifting, by fire damage from a burning boat next door etc., and in each case the third party’s insurer has denied liability as negligence could not be proven.
