The teams have been announced to represent RSA at the Worlds Optimist Championships to be held in Niteroi, Brazil, in August 2009, and at the African Optimist Championships to be held in Richards Bay, South Africa, in July:

Optimist Selections Final Day

The Final Results from the Optimist Selections sailed in Richards Bay.

The top 5 Sailors are selected for the Optimist Worlds Team.

The next 14 sailors are selected for the Optimist Africans Team - 4 of which must be of the opposite gender.

Optimist Selections 2009

Yesterday was the second day of the Optimist Selections Championships in Richards Bay, the venue for the African Continental Optimist Champs.

Just two days into the championships and 7 races have been sailed.

The fleet is 22 sailors strong, down on the normal numbers of 30 sailors. All are vying for places in the Worlds and Africans teams.
