Registration Open for Bart’s Bash 2017:
Registration has now opened for sailors wanting to take part in this year’s Bart’s Bash, which takes place over the weekend of September 16-17, 2017. The charity, set up in memory of Olympic sailor, Andrew Simpson, aims to improve the lives of young people through sailing. Last year, around 7,300 sailors from 58 countries took part, helping to raise tens of thousands of pounds for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation (ASSF). This year, it looks like the annual event will be bigger than ever, with 564 venues registered to take part in 74 countries. Full Story.

No Wind for Final Day of Optimist Worlds:
Pattaya, Thailand (July 20, 2017) – After waiting for wind on the water, Italian sailor Marco Gardoni was hoisted, in his boat, onto the shoulders of his coach and supporters as the Italian flag waved above him, horns honked and a crowd cheered the 2017 Optimist World Champion, marking the end of an emotional final day of the Championship. In the morning, one could see a mix of feelings on the faces of the 281 youth sailors from 62 countries, lining the beach, preparing to launch in listless conditions, hopeful of three more races, unfortunately no racing occurred.
