Reviewing Volvo Ocean 65 mast failure:
MAPFRE, which broke their mast on March 30 while training for the Volvo Ocean Race 2017, will be back sailing by mid-April. The Volvo Ocean 65 crew have been meeting with Volvo Ocean Race officials to investigate the incident and make a plan to get the team back on the water. The new mast is due to arrive in Lisbon as early as April 6. The boat should be relaunched by April 14 and the team should be sailing again by April 17. Full report.

New Chapter in Offshore Racing:
The Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, measuring 32 metres long and 23 metres wide, is undergoing her final few months in the yard after a build process spanning over a year and a half. Scheduled to launch this July, the mission has been to create a flying offshore maxi-trimaran.
A new chapter in the history of offshore racing is very likely being written. Who could have wagered just ten years ago that a multihull of this size would be capable of flying around the world driven by just one skipper?
