Volvo Ocean Race: Approaching the tip:
(April 28, 2018; Day 6) – Vestas 11th Hour Racing has had a productive 24 hours on Leg 8 of the Volvo Ocean Race, reducing its deficit to leader Turn the Tide on Plastic as the fleet approaches the northeastern tip of South America.
“It’s a beautiful morning here on the Atlantic Ocean,” reports Tom Johnson from Vestas. “Sunny skies, not too much cloud action which is nice, and we’re chipping away. We can see Turn the Tide on Plastic which means we’ve come into them quite a bit overnight.
Hiebert leads J/70 Corinthian Nationals:
Fort Worth, TX (April 27, 2018) – The third annual J/70 Corinthian US National Championship welcomed 15 all-amateur teams in winds of 5-8 knots under sunny blue skies.
David Hiebert’s USA546 grabbed the day one advantage, by way of a 4,1 in today’s two races for 5 points thus far. Dave Dennison’s Piranha is hot on his heels with 6 points, after posting a 2,4. Forbes Durdin’s Mojito holds the third position with 9 points.
