With the start of Leg 5 of the Volvo Ocean Race being postponed due to Cyclone Pam’s predicted course heading straight down the east coast of New Zealand, the In-Port Race was held on schedule in glorious sunshine belying the ominous weather that was forecast to arrive in the following days.
The all-girl crew of Team SCA led the race from start to finish and became the first team to win two In-Port races in the 2015 event.
All crews were gearing up for the testing Southern Ocean leg which will see them round Cape Horn and head to Brazil.
Dale Lorimer was dockside and on the water for the In-Port race and captured the colour and action of the day in this video.
