Welles takes lead at J/24 North Americans:
La Porte, TX (May 27, 2017) – Will Welles’ Bogus went four for four today at the J/24 North American Championship hosted by Houston Yacht Club. The Newport, RI-based skipper made a strong case in defending his title by winning all four meetings in winds at 12-18 knots.
Welles is now able to discard an OCS from race 1, leaving him a scoreline of 4,2,3,1,1,1,1 for 13 points. Mike Ingham’s Nautalytics, also now dropping an OCS from race 1, moved up to second with a solid day including three runner-up finishes. Charleston leads Team Race Nationals:
Mount Pleasant, SC (May 27, 2017) – Today was the first day of racing for the LaserPerformance College Sailing Team Race National Championship on the Cooper River in Charleston Harbor hosted by the College of Charleston. Sixteen of the best college teams across the nation qualified to compete in this event for the Walter C. Wood Trophy, awarded to the winning team.
The first start was around 10 a.m. in about 6 knots of wind from the southwest. The sun was out and temperatures were in the high 80s.
