Win-Win for Brits at America’s Cup World Series:
The homecoming for Ben Ainslie and Land Rover BAR proved fruitful at they won three of the six races to take the overall victory at the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Portsmouth event on July 22-24.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were on hand to present the awards and it was a fitting end to an amazing weekend of action for the British fans in Portsmouth.
“I think it’s been a brilliant weekend,” said Sir Ben Ainslie, the skipper of Land Rover BAR. “For us to race in Portsmouth, in front of our home crowd with the weather playing its part and two cracking days of racing, as a home team to win in front of our home crowd is the best thing we could do.”<...

Converting to ORC for Racer Cruiser fleet:
The effectiveness of rating rules to fairly handicap competition is reliant on the boats having similar performance characteristics. As new boats became more ‘racer’ and less ‘cruiser’, generations of comfortable race boats found they were at a disadvantage on the prevailing windward -leeward courses.
Enter the Chesapeake Racer Cruiser Association, an organization launched in 2015 to create the structure and rules to promote dual purpose boat racing on the Chesapeake. While their first season was successful beyond any expectations, the 2016 season has been about building on what they’ve learned.
