World Sailing President Kim Andersen offers his monthly update on what is occurring within the international governing body for the sport of sailing.
Upcoming Board Meeting
In just a few days’ time, the World Sailing Board will convene in Madrid, Spain. The meeting comes at a timely point, with many important items on the agenda.
Notably, this includes reviewing the Submissions we have received. Having had a first glance, many of the discussions for the meeting will be around adopting IOC agenda 2020, focusing on growing women’s participation, antitrust policy issues and the governance our sport.

Clipper Race: The First Scoring Gate:
(August 31, 2017; Day 11) – The battle for positions continues in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race with Qingdao holding onto its narrow lead. GREAT Britain is hot on its stern, however, with Sanya Serenity Coast moving back up into third place and the rest of the fleet continuing to jostle for positions in the heat. The Trade Winds continue to drive the fleet south with the talk now turning to the first opportunity to get points on the board; the Scoring Gate. Full report.
